Visruth Srimath Kandali

Hi!

My name is Visruth, and I am a statistics and data science student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I’m interested in Bayesian statistics, computational statistics, functional programming, & HPC.

I mostly do computational research, e.g. statistical/machine learning & Monte Carlo methods. I work at Cal Poly and Stanford. I’m keen to learn more, and appreciate recommendations for interesting book/papers/blogs/etc.

I’m a big R and Julia fan! Python is alright too, I guess. :) I’ve been learning a little OCaml, and want to learn C/C++ soon. I enjoy learning cool new languages.

I’m also a proponent of security/privacy and Open Source, even though I’m on Windows, and recently had to swap from GrapheneOS to “fully Googled” Android. I try my best to use open source software. I know that doing so doesn’t guarantee security/privacy/anonymity/etc. but I am a firm believer that OSS is good, even if not for those specific reasons.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, writing, photography, and music.

Happy to talk about any of the above!
